From Japan to the Acropolis: Dimitris Pikionis’s landscape art

In the 20th century, the western architect’s interest manly focused on Shintō – the way of the gods – and the connection between nature and arts. The landscapes of the Acropolis that Dimitris Pikionis (1887-1968) created from 1954 to 1958 are part of the most poetic artworks of the 20th century.
This conference gives the opportunity to explore those landscapes and highlights the resemblance with the ways leadling to temples and traditional gardens in Japan.

It is given by Irène Vogel Chevroulet, specialist in japanese garden and lecturer at EPFL.
