The Meikikai dojo will come to present two martial arts. Muso Shinden Ryu’s Iaido is the art of pulling the sword out of its sheath and simultaneously creating a cut. In this modern practice of the sword, it is the search for simplicity, elegance and power in the movement of the sword and body. The practice of the Iaido must be supplemented by the work of the Kenjutsu, which is an art which could be similar to fencing, but which is carried out without protection within the framework of this school.

Aïkido is one of the modern budo (Japanese martial arts) that re-elabors warrior techniques (bujutsu) used until the eighteenth century in Japan. It is a magnificent laboratory of experimentation whose fields cover biomechanics and notions of time and space among others. During practice the emphasis is on breathing in motion. We explore various types of synchronization between breathing, movement and the body, called the “ki ken tai“.
